In the British Army our training runs were very tough.
They kept us guessing when it came to sprints that we had to do with weight on our backs - including carrying our fellow soldiers. We'd have to sprint from anywhere between 50 yards to 1000 yards - some uphill (mostly!) and some flat.
Just when we were familier with the terrain and the distance the next day they'd throw something different at us.
This was not only done by accident, and not dependent on the mood of the instructors at the time - or the fact that they might
be playing mind games with us for that matter.
No.
You see, constantly changing up our workouts was the key to building great endurance for peek combat performance.
There was no regiment or unit better than us.
We had excelled ourselves on active and peacetime operations.
Your exercise routine should be the same if you are interested in excess energy to supercharge your day.
Last year, I trained in the mornings.
I'd go swimming, did some intervals and head back home.
I did this to ready myself for a competition I was preparing for, and I felt super charged for the day.
These days a lot of my training is done late afternoon at home, especially if the weather is bad and I don't have much time available.
I don't need much space to blast off some body weight exercises.
Never program yourself to say I only workout in the morning. Or I only run x number of miles a day.
You should gear yourself up to train whenever, where ever and however.
Also, change up a gear and mix it up. If you train in sprints then go to bodyweight exercises. If you train in the evening ramp it up by getting up early in the morning to train.
If you only walk, try to run for five minutes then walk again.
Change is good not only for mental growth but also good for increasing energy.
In my bodyweight conditioning program, I also build on interval training (running) and many more methods to get you fit, strong
and healthy.
